Troubleshooting Outlook 2007 Email Issue

The issue due to which Outlook users cannot send email in Outlook 2007 is Email Account Settings. If email account settings are not done correctly or the wrong port number for Outgoing Server is added then problems with Outlook occur.

Troubleshooting Outlook 2007 Email Issue

To troubleshoot Outlook 2007, execute the below given steps:

Step 1: Launch MS Outlook 2007. In Windows XP, you can start MS Outlook through this path – click Start > Programs > MS Outlook > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.

Step 2: After MS Outlook 2007 is launched, click File > Account Settings. A dialog box appears.

Step 3: Select the email account using which you cannot send email from Outlook and click the Change button. Another dialog box opens up.

Step 4: Click the More Settings button followed by selecting the Advanced tab.

Step 5: Beside the Use the following type of encrypted connection option select the SSL check box.

Step 6: Major reason behind problems with Outlook can be port number of outgoing server, so change it. Enter 80, 3535, 587, 25, or 465 beside the Outgoing Server (SMTP) option.

Step 7: After that click the OK button followed by clicking the Next button.

Step 8: Check if you are able to send emails from Outlook or not. If not then clear the SSL check box beside the Use the following type of encrypted connection option. To do this, repeat steps from 2 to 5.

If you still face the problem then you have to change the port number. Herein above, we have provided the five port numbers for Outgoing Server (SMTP). Try them one by one i.e. after changing one port number, check if you are able to send email or not. If yes, you have resolved the issue otherwise enter other port number.

To modify the port number, repeat steps from 2 to 6. If the problem is due to email Account Settings then it will be resolved.
